Cassella’s Kitchen is accepting entries this week for their second annual “Best Darn Pie in Muncie” contest. Deadline for entries is June 11.
The winners will be decided at the Best Darn Pie in Muncie Contest, BBQ and Blues event at Cassella’s Kitchen on Saturday, June 12, from 10am to 5pm.
Sample chef Gary Abbott’s pulled pork sandwiches and fixin’s, and enjoy music by Indy’s own Craig Peterson, jazz and blues tenor saxophonist.
The pie contest begins at 1pm. The contest will be judged by chefs from the local American Culinary Foundation. After contest winners are announced, pies will be sold for $1.00 per slice, to be donated to the American Culinary Foundation.
Six first prize winners, one in each category of the contest, will receive $75.00 gift certificates. Six runners up will receive $25.00 gift certificates, and a kid’s winner receives $25.00 gift basket.
“Best Darn Pie in Muncie” contest categories include: fruit, nut, most unusual, quiche, cobbler, cream, and kids. Contestants must be 18 or older, or 12 or younger for the kids category.
Registration fee is $10 for the first pie, and $5.00 for each additional pie. Deadline for entries is June 11, and pies may be dropped off at Cassella’s Kitchen.
