Cornerstone Center For The Arts Offers One-Day Workshops in July

classesthe cornerstone arts program is now accepting registrations for july one-time workshops! every saturday cornerstone offers a variety of fun and educational workshops. one-time workshops are a great and inexpensive way to sample different art forms and learn something new. workshops are great opportunities for families, groups, teams, companies, and more!

july 9th swing dance 3-5 pm 9th grade  –  adult  $10
if you desire to have great dance moves but need a little guidance, let cornerstone center for the arts’ talented and experienced instructors teach you! in this two hour workshop you will learn the basic movements and steps of swing dancing. your new moves can be transferred to a variety of different music types and you will be rocking the dance floor in no time! this workshop is available to those in the 9th grade to adults; registration with a partner is preferred.

july 16th make a stepping stone   3-5 pm children  –  adult   $15
get your yard summer ready by using cornerstone’s supply of crafting materials to make a unique stepping stone. these personalized stepping stones make great decorations for your porch or yard. there are many design options and this class is open to everyone, children under 12 must be registered with a parent though.

july 16th photowalk   9th grade  –  adult   9 am  –  12 pm    $15
join other students on a walk around the area neighboring the building as you explore the aspects of the season. this workshop will encompass photo techniques as well as chances to discuss work. a camera is required.

july 16th audition technique for musicals   1-3 pm   9th grade  –  adult    $10
musical audition tips, with a focus on how to act your song. participants should come prepared with at least one age-specific, memorized song selection, along with a recorded accompaniment.

july 16th audition technique for plays   3-5 pm   9th grade  –  adult    $10
specific tips to help land the part, with a focus on monologue work, and cold reading. participants should come prepared with at least one age-specific, memorized monologue.

july 23rd   line dancing   3-5 pm   9th grade  –  adult    $10
learn this fun dance that requires no partner. line dancing is done at many social gatherings. have fun dancing to a variety of music while learning is a great way to spend time with friends.

july 23rd   egyptian coil bracelet   3-5 pm   12+    $15
learn how to make a traditional coil bracelet with wire and beads. students will learn about color choices, types of stones traditionally used, and basic ancient egyptian symbols and their meanings.

july 23rd chacha and salsa workshop   3-5 pm   9th grade  –  adult    $10
come experience these lively latin dances! get those hips swinging and feel the beat as we learn the basics. you will leave with an understanding of the steps and a short routine in each style. you won’t be able to resist the great music and fun moves that easily transfer to any party. couples and singles welcome.

july 23rd   preschool music   4-5 pm   ages 3-6    $10
princess prince theme. come explore instruments, sing, dance, participate in stories, and much more! through this music class, your child is exposed to life skills such as: listening to and following instructions, taking turns, borrowing items and giving items back, learning how to work in a group, and how to have fun with all kinds of music and pretend play.

july 30th   egyptian coil bracelet   3 – 4:30 pm   ages 8-11    $15

july 30th portrait drawing   3 – 5 pm   9th grade -adult    $15
for those of you out there who want to be able to draw faces have found it challenging, this class is for you! there are many things to consider when you draw a portrait, and this class will help you achieve them. come learn the basics of facial layout, the importance of little details, how to accurately do shading, and how to draw each part of the face. you will leave with some helpful materials, a portrait you drew all by yourself and more confidence in your portrait drawing abilities!
