Downtown Muncie Welcomes BSU Orientation Guests

Muncie Downtown Development, in partnership with Ball State University, welcomes the parents of BSU incoming freshmen to take a guided tour of Downtown Muncie as part of orientation activities this summer. This our fifth year of offering tours, and thousands of guests will be visiting our historic downtown district between June 8 and July 16.

Each Tuesday through Thursday during orientaion weeks, two volunteer tour guides will meet our guests on the Ball State University campus. The group will travel by MITS bus down Wheeling Avenue, past Minnetrista, the Cantilever Walkway and the Cardinal Greenway.

The group will disembark at the historic Muncie Civic Theatre on the north end of downtown, where our guests will be given a brief introduction. The group will divide in two and, each led by one guide, will take a guided tour through the historic downtown arts and entertainment district. Visitors will also have the option of taking a self-guided tour.

The two groups will meet up at the end of the tour at Horizon Convention Center on the south end of downtown. A daily drawing will be held for door prizes at that time, then the MITS buses will return our guests back to the BSU campus.

If you are interested in donating gift items for the daily door prize drawings, or would like to be a volunteer tour guide, please contact Cheryl Crowder at Downtown Development, phone 282-7897 or by email  at chercrowder [at]
