Ten years. One hundred and ten exhibitions. Several hundred artists, countless volunteer hours, and hundreds of donors. When Gallery 308 holds its First Thursday reception on December 2, its patrons will be reminded of these achievements because December 2010 marks the 10th anniversary of this unique community art gallery.
December 2 is also the opening of a new exhibit, a show by senior art students from Ball State’s Art Department. A reception will be held to welcome visitors to their show from 5 to 8 p.m. at the downtown Muncie art gallery. The public is welcome.
In 2000, Muncie was experiencing a revitalization of its downtown district. But, without a single downtown art gallery in existence, the city’s urban renewal developers welcomed this new venture, to be called Mitchell Place Gallery.
