landscapes by paul laseau is the september exhibit at gordy fine art framing company in muncie. laseau, a featured artist of the downtown gallery, will greet patrons and guests at an opening reception during the first thursday gallery walk, september 2nd, from 5 to 8 pm. laseau will discuss his work and answer questions. light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.
retired ball state architecture professor, author of books on the art of sketching, avid traveler and artist of watercolors, paul laseau has a knack for capturing time in his works of art. a moment on a french boulevard or a century in a greek village, laseau paintings, sketches and photos all boast a crispness that would have viewers believe the creation was effortless. but just try to copy the confident lines, washes and finished scenes; it becomes clear that these are the works of a very seasoned hand following a similarly seasoned eye.
upon questioning his motivation for the subject matter of this exhibit, the prolific artist gave a rather archeological view. it represents my continuing fascination with the interaction of people and nature through the evidence found in landscapes. offers gallery owner, brian gordy, in this exhibit, the artist, as historian, shows us our own world.
twenty to twenty five paintings featuring majestic barns, indiana countryside, and the maine coast will hang throughout the month and may also be viewed during normal business hours, or by appointment. for more information, contact the gallery at 765-284-8422 or visit http://www.gordyframing.com.
